Millis- It was announced recently that Howie Oil, founded by Samuel J. Howie in 1935, has merged with Jamie Oil. In a letter to his longtime customers, Howie Oil President Tom Howie, Sam’s oldest son, thanked his customers for all of their support throughout the years. He wrote that while the decision was not an easy one to make, he believes that combining forces with Jamie Oil is the best move for his brothers Steve and Paul, as well as their customers.
The Howie’s have enjoyed a business relationship with Jamie Oil and Tom Carey dating back to 1985, and Tom Howie has assured his customers that they would not be disappointed with the quality and service they receive from the new, combined operation.
The 130,000 gallon storage facility and eight-bay garage on Railroad Avenue in Millis, the second largest of its kind in the Metro West area, “will allow us to buy oil and store it, which should mean better prices for our customers”, said Michelle Daley who is in charge of buying oil and scheduling deliveries.
This past winter Jamie Oil service technicians covered weekend and night emergency service calls for the Howie brothers, who were happy not to be on call twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. “The merger made a lot of sense,” said Jamie Oil General Manager Rick Auen. “They have the outstanding facilities that we need, and we have the service and office staff to give the Howie brothers a much needed break.”
“We’ll still be around”, said Tom Howie from his orange and blue Freightliner oil truck,
“and any customer that has a problem can always give either me or my brothers a call.”
